The vision of the Dementia Capable Communities project is to have communities where persons living with dementia participate and are valued, respected, safe and belong. Stigma includes negative perceptions of dementia among community members. Stigma prevents the full participation of people living with dementia in communities. Stigma also leads to failure to plan infrastructure, programs, and services so that they meet the needs of people living with dementia.
These learning modules will help you to support the inclusion and participation of people living with dementia in communities. The training will help you better understand dementia, the rights of people living with dementia, and strategies that you can use to ensure persons living with dementia with diverse abilities and needs can participate.
